If you are looking for a typical candidate or some career politician, you’ve come to the wrong place.
Pete Snyder is an ideas-driven trailblazer who has a proven track record building businesses and creating jobs right here in Virginia.
Pete isn’t a career politician. He’s an entrepreneur who helped launch an industry that employs hundreds of thousands of people in the United States and around the world. Pete understands firsthand what it takes to create and grow jobs – and now he wants to take that experience to Richmond to help make the Commonwealth a great place to live and work.
In 1999, Pete revolutionized the communications world by doing what he always does: taking a risk, coming up with a plan, developing a strong team, and focusing on big ideas and common-sense solutions. He recognized that corporations had failed to leverage emerging online technology to market their products. Companies wasted billions of dollars a year on old models to reach consumers, and they did not take online engagement seriously. In response, Pete founded New Media Strategies (NMS) out of his one-bedroom apartment and worked tirelessly to address a real need in the marketplace. In doing so, he founded the world’s first social media marketing agency. That company quickly grew from a tiny, shoe-string operation to creating hundreds of jobs here in Virginia and changing the way both companies and consumers behave.
During his 12 years as CEO, Pete guided NMS to become the largest company in its industry. He built a blue-chip client base that featured some of the world’s leading brands and corporations. As a result, NMS was named three times to Inc Magazine’s list of the 500 Fastest Growing Businesses in America and was recognized by several prominent publications as one of the region’s “Best Places to Work.” Pete was also honored by Fortune Small Business for his innovative management style when it named him “Best Boss”.
In 2012, Pete launched a new company called Disruptor Capital – a Virginia-based angel capital investment company focused on funding and growing new and emerging technologies, ideas, and entrepreneurs. Since its founding, Pete has invested in other entrepreneurs and companies who share his passion for innovation, ideas, and creating something new. Smart CEO Magazine lauded Pete as “a Disruptor we admire.”
Pete's no newcomer to the conservative cause. He cut his teeth in grassroots campaigns back in '94 as a foot soldier in Ollie's Army during Lt. Col. Oliver North's legendary U.S. Senate campaign in Virginia. Over the years, Pete has been involved in dozens of conservative causes and campaigns and regularly added his ideas and leadership to the movement as a Fox News Contributor. Fox News Founder and President Roger Ailes recently said, "Pete's been a strong and effective conservative voice for Fox News and America."
Recognizing the importance of the 2012 elections in Virginia, Governor Bob McDonnell asked Pete to chair the Victory efforts in the Commonwealth. In answering that call to serve during the biggest political battle of our lifetimes, Pete worked tirelessly for candidates up and down the ticket, and brought new energy and ideas to the grassroots. Pete is very proud that he had the privilege of working with grassroots leaders across every single part of our Commonwealth. His efforts helped us to break all records in getting more Virginians than ever to invest in our party and in our cause.
Pete is both a proud alumnus and member of the Board of Visitors of the College of William and Mary. Pete understands the value of higher education and he believes that Virginia needs to lead the Free World in education again, just as it did 319 years ago. That is why Pete will fight for sweeping education reform in the Commonwealth.
Pete believes in limited government, and that free markets inspire free people. He is dedicated to the founding principles of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, which drive his approach to how our government should work. He is dedicated to growing the Culture of Life and continuing to win hearts and minds on God's greatest gift. He is also an ardent defender of our Second Amendment and will fight to protect our cherished civil liberties. As a small business owner and job creator, Pete knows first-hand that lower taxes, fewer regulations and a commitment to innovation and major government reform will get our nation's economy moving again. When Virginia's bravest come home from duty fighting for our freedom overseas, it is our duty to ensure that our heroes have good paying jobs so they can take care of their families.
A former Division One college wrestler and avid runner, Pete isn't afraid of a tough fight or a long, hard road. In fact, tough fights are what inspire him. He most recently completed the 2012 Charlottesville Marathon in 3 hours and 40 minutes. Additionally, Pete serves on the Marketing Board of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Board of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the Board of Trustees of Cushing Academy and the Board of Visitors for the College of William and Mary.
Oh, yeah, Pete is also a World Championship certified BBQ Judge,“famous” for his dry rub and pork shoulder. He and his wife, Burson, reside in Fairfax County, Virginia with their dog Elvis.
